A short video highlighting some of the details in the paintings and illustrations over the years. Many of these have been published in children’s picture books. The medium is acrylics paints with a few others created with oil paints.
Illustrations in this video were created for “Hello Ocean,” a children’s book about the five senses. A young girl with her family explores the shoreline and she sees, hears, smells, touches, and tastes the ocean. Published in 2001 in English and Spanish. Astrella had taken photos and video to use as reference material on the one day at a San Diego beach. Its interesting to see the original video along with the resulting paintings.
A video showing some paintings and drawings by Mark Anthony Astrella that focus on some of the finer details.
ArtMixx was a collaborative event showcasing artists from around Maui. Astrella was the Technical Director at the venue. We came up with the idea of landing a space ship on the stage.
